Grand Casino Knokke voted “Belgium’s Best Casino”

In the inaugural edition of the World Casino Awards, Grand Casino Knokke has been voted the best casino in Belgium. The World Casino Awards, a sister event to the prestigious World Travel Awards, celebrate and reward excellence in the casino industry worldwide. The Monte Carlo Casino made it as the World’s Best Casino.

Piet De Groote: “Numero Uno worden in Europa”

Burgemeester Piet De Groote zijn waardering maar ook zijn ambitie niet onder stoelen of banken. “Als burgervader ben ik uiteraard ontzettend fier dat het casino van Knokke-Heist nu ook officieel uitgeroepen is tot de meest kwalitatieve speelzaal van het land. Ik wil het management en alle medewerkers van Napoleon Sports & Casino dan ook feliciteren met deze fantastische prestigieuze award! Maar daar mag het uiteraard niet bij blijven. Als gemeentebestuur willen we ook op cultureel vlak dit gebouw opnieuw de grandeur geven die het verdient. Het MilieuEffectenRapport (MER) als onderdeel van de geïntegreerde RUP-procedure voor het nieuwe Casino, is ondertussen afgerond en wordt deze maand voorgelegd aan de cel MER. In tussentijd kunnen we aanvatten met de opmaak van het voorontwerp RUP om eind 2022 te landen met een goedgekeurd en uitvoerbaar ruimtelijk uitvoeringsplan. Nauw aansluitend aan deze RUP-procedure zal de gemeente een internationale architectuurwedstrijd organiseren waarbij kandidaten uit binnen- en buitenland de kans krijgen het casino-kursaal van Leon Stynen nieuw leven in te blazen. Ik hoop dat we tegen 2025 effectief kunnen starten met de werken. Het Grand Casino Knokke staat dus in de eerstkomende jaren voor grote uitdagingen en zal duidelijk nog meer aan belang winnen in het kader van de verdere toeristische ontwikkeling van onze badplaats. Dit jaar sleepten we de award van Beste Belgische casino in de wacht. Onze volgende ambitie is de numero uno te worden van het hele Europese continent!”:

Dat deze visie waaraan men het voorbije jaar gebouwd heeft, nu beloond wordt met deze prijs, emotioneert ook Isabelle Cooreman, Head of Slots. “Dit is een erkenning die ons allemaal erg diep heeft geraakt.
